We are thrilled to announce our Information Technology Student Profile of the Month!

Congratulations to Emily Heywood (pictured 3rd from left) who has been completing her traineeship in ICT30120 – Certificate III in Information Technology with Tablelands Regional Council based in Far North Queensland!

Below are the insights she shared about her training experience and how she has applied the knowledge she acquired to her professional life.

Q: What have you gained most so far from your traineeship at Integrity?
A: I feel like I have gained so much from this course, I have learnt so much in the last 11 or so months.
So far, I believe I’ve gained the most in experience. Being able to put the theory into practice in the workplace straight away is very valuable.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the course?
A: I’ve enjoyed looking back and realising how much I have learnt from this course. Thinking back to when I first started, I didn’t know any of the ‘fancy language’ or understand much of the processes used both generally and in the workplace. It’s been really eye-opening to see the difference in what I understand!

Q: What skills have you gained through your traineeship that you can directly apply into your workplace?
A: I’ve learnt a variety of different skills I’ve been able to directly use in the workplace, both in theory and with the exercises.
The theory has given me the background knowledge to further improve my skills with real tasks and allowed for personal growth (With customer service, like talking with clients/end users).

Q: What does your role entail?
A: My role entails primarily assisting the Systems & Information ICT Team in regular tasks like end user support, device deploy, maintaining documentation and monitoring system logs, backups, networks and performance. I’m also expected to help support activities and projects, continuous improvements of systems and processes and a variety of other things.

Q: What advice can you give anyone who is thinking about undertaking a traineeship?
A: Go for it. Take the opportunity for sure! There is so much to learn, and I definitely recommend jumping in and going for it. You miss every shot you don’t take.

Q: How do you find working and training together at the same time, is it beneficial?
A: I think working and training at the same time is definitely beneficial! Pairing a course with a job (like a traineeship) gives a lot more opportunity to get hands on experience in a real setting.
You also learn important skills like time management, juggling work and study.

Q: Would you recommend Integrity?
A: I would 100% recommend Integrity, they go above and beyond in ensuring success. The trainers I’ve been privileged to talk to have been super nice and encouraging.
Adrian has been absolutely amazing, responding to emails and queries super quick and offering extra catch-up classes for anyone falling behind.

Congratulations Emily! Your passion for IT and exceptional dedication to your training have been outstanding. We cant wait to see where your career endeavors will take you next. Keep up the great work!
