Welcome to our latest series!

We’ve maintained a strong connection with numerous former students, and we’re excited to showcase the paths they’ve embarked on after graduating from Integrity Business College.

Shearna Svaljek (pictured left) studied with us in 2017 and has now taken on her very own trainee, Arielle Zafirovska (pictured right).

We recently had a conversation with Shearna, during which we asked her to share some insights and offer advice to individuals who are just beginning their careers.

Q: What qualification/s did you complete during your time as a student at Integrity Business College?
A: My first qualification with Integrity was a Traineeship studying the Certificate III in Information, Digital Media & Technology. I then returned to Integrity Business College to study the Certificate IV in Business.

Q: How long has it been since you completed your studies with us?
A: It has been 3 years since I completed the Certificate IV in Business.

Q: What advice would you offer to current students based on your experiences and career development?
A: There are four main tips that I could offer current students:

  • I would recommend current students reflect on the units they enjoy completing and assess if these unit subjects are potential areas for further study and development.
  • Use performance reviews with your employer as an opportunity to discuss career development and present possible further learning options.
  • You never stop learning, try new things and step out of your comfort zone.
  • Education is the greatest support for your personal and career growth. Be grateful for your education and the opportunity to study. Where are you currently employed, and how has the training contributed to your career?

Q: Where are you currently employed, and how has the training contributed to your career?
A: I am still employed at WSM, which is my family business. When I started my traineeship, my role was Receptionist and Administration Support, my role has now evolved to Business Manager. The certificates I completed with Integrity Business College were fundamental to my personal and professional growth. They gave me confidence and knowledge to study further & complete my Diploma of Leadership & Management at Monash.

When I finished year 12, I immediately started studying a Bachelor of Commerce. I cancelled my Bachelor studies after a year, as I was not enjoying the course & university experience. This was due to entering a level of study I had minimal prior knowledge of. The benefit of completing study with Integrity Business College is the opportunity to relate your study units to your workplace experience, doing so makes study relevant and supports career development.

Integrity Business College changed my perception of education after the negative experience at university into a positive reminder to value study and never stop learning. I intend to study further to progress my personal development and career trajectory.

Shearna is a great example of someone who appreciates the advantages of ongoing education, and we eagerly anticipate collaborating with both Shearna and WSM Plumbing for numerous years ahead!
