Congratulations to Zach Wemyss
Zach is completing ICT40120 – Certificate IV in Information Technology as a Trainee with Computing Today (Wangaratta)
Here are the insights he shared about his training experience and how he has applied the knowledge to his professional life.
Q: What does your role entail?
A:My role at Computing Today involves a variety of tasks across the company. Some of these responsibilities include setting up workstations and installing them for clients to ensure they have a smooth transition to their new systems. I also assist with creating new user profiles and supporting users as they adjust to new workplace setups. In addition, I help clients troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that may impact their ability to work effectively.
Q: What skills have you gained through your traineeship that you can directly apply into your workplace?
A:Throughout my traineeship, from when I was an SBAT student to becoming a full-time trainee, I have gained many valuable skills that I can apply in the workplace. Some of the most important skills include working with server and Active Directory environments, learning about Cloud Active Directory and cloud storage solutions, understanding computer virtualisation, and developing knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing, DHCP, and DNS, and their importance in business environments.
Q: What aspects of your training have brought you the greatest enjoyment thus far?
A:The hands-on practical units have brought me the greatest enjoyment so far, particularly the server units. These units allow me to create my own server environments, experiment with different configurations, and explore the capabilities of server systems in a practical setting.
Q: What advice can you give anyone who is thinking about undertaking a traineeship?
A:I would strongly recommend undertaking a traineeship, as it is a valuable opportunity that can open many possibilities for your career. Even if you are unsure about committing to a traineeship, it is worth giving it a try, as you may be surprised by how much knowledge and experience you gain from the opportunity.
Q: How did you find our Online Virtual training – is it something you would recommend?
A:I found the online virtual training to be very beneficial, as it allows greater flexibility and enables students to learn in a way that suits their individual learning style. If assistance is required, the teachers are always available during class to provide support. For these reasons, I would strongly recommend the online training system.
Q: How did you find working and training together at the same time, is it beneficial?
A:Working and training at the same time has had a strong positive influence on my learning. Being able to learn new concepts during training and then apply them directly in the workplace is a very effective way to develop practical skills and reinforce knowledge.
Q: How has your traineeship experience influenced your short-term and long-term career goals?
A:The traineeship has influenced me to continue working in the IT industry. In the short term, it has helped me build practical skills and gain confidence working with cloud and server systems and providing IT support. In the long term, it has encouraged me to continue developing my technical knowledge and pursue a long-term career in the IT field.
Q: Upon completion, do you plan to further your studies?
A:Upon completion of my traineeship, I plan to remain with Computing Today and continue building my knowledge and experience in the IT industry. I also intend to take advantage of any in-house training and professional development opportunities provided by the company to further develop my skills.
Q: How did you find the working relationship between yourself and Integrity Business College?
A:I found my working relationship with Integrity Business College to be very strong. The teachers show genuine interest in students both inside and outside of class and are always willing to assist with any questions or issues. This supportive environment made it easier to stay engaged and confident throughout the course.
Q: Would you recommend Integrity?
A: I would strongly recommend Integrity Business College, as it provides a supportive learning environment with helpful and approachable teachers. The coursework is well structured and relevant to the industry, making it easier to understand and apply the skills in a real workplace. Overall, the support from the teachers and the quality of the course content made the learning experience very positive.
