Integrity Business College is proud to recognise Harrison Caruana as our VETDSS Student of the Month.

Harrison has recently become the first official graduate of our BSB30220 – Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business, marking an exciting milestone not only for Harrison but also for our Entrepreneurship program.

For Harrison, entrepreneurship isn’t just something he studies in the classroom – it’s something he is already putting into practice.

Alongside completing Year 11 and his VET studies at Strathmore Secondary College, Harrison has established his own mobile car washing business, DH Car Wash, servicing Melbourne’s inner and western suburbs. It was this entrepreneurial mindset that led him to enrol in the Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business, seeking practical knowledge and skills to support his own business journey.

Throughout the course, Harrison consistently demonstrated initiative, asked thoughtful questions and actively looked for opportunities to expand his understanding of business operations and entrepreneurship. His drive to learn and willingness to challenge himself made him stand out amongst his peers.

As part of his VET journey, Harrison also completed a 12-week work experience placement with Integrity Business College, working closely alongside Dylan Venables, Operations Manager. During this time, Harrison assisted with a variety of projects across the organisation, helped prepare for meetings and presentations, attended employer meetings and industry events, and gained valuable insight into the day-to-day operations of a Registered Training Organisation.

Reflecting on Harrison’s contribution during his placement, Dylan said:
“Quite frankly, Harrison kept me on my toes. Every time I gave him something that I thought would take a while, he’d have it finished before I knew it and would be back asking what else he could help with. He has a genuine drive to get ahead, asks great questions and is always looking for opportunities to learn.”

When reflecting on the course, Harrison shared that he developed valuable skills in entrepreneurship, business operations, networking and understanding the legal and compliance requirements involved in running a business.

His favourite unit was BSBTWK401 Build and maintain business relationships.
“I really liked this unit because it answered questions that I had about networking, entrepreneurship and building business relationships,” Harrison said.

When asked what advice he would give to other students considering the Certificate III in Entrepreneurship and New Business, Harrison encouraged them to take the opportunity.
“If you’ve ever thought about starting your own business or want to build skills to support your entrepreneurial journey, I’d encourage you to give it a go. Don’t spend too much time thinking about it – take the first step. You’ll learn a lot and find the course both enjoyable and interesting.”

Balancing school and VET studies can be challenging, but Harrison developed strategies to ensure he stayed on top of both commitments.
“I made sure I stayed on top of my school work first and then dedicated time to my VET studies. Having that routine helped me balance both commitments without becoming overwhelmed.”

Studying entrepreneurship has also influenced the way Harrison thinks about his future.
“I now have more skills that I can use when required that will help me with businesses and overall management of myself and work.”

While Harrison does not currently plan to undertake further study immediately, he is eager to put the skills he has developed into practice and remains open to future learning opportunities as his career evolves.

Harrison also had positive feedback about his experience with Integrity Business College.
“I would definitely recommend Integrity Business College as a training provider because of their customer service and systems that have helped me get through my course efficiently and with plenty of help available.”

Congratulations, Harrison, on this outstanding achievement. Becoming the first graduate of our Entrepreneurship program is a significant milestone, but more importantly, you’ve demonstrated what can happen when passion, initiative and hard work come together.

We look forward to following your journey and watching both you and DH Car Wash continue to grow and succeed in the years ahead.

And finally, if you’re located around Essendon, Strathmore, Keilor or the surrounding suburbs and would like to support a young entrepreneur who is already putting his business skills into action, don’t be shy about checking out Harrison’s mobile car washing business, DH Car Wash.
